‘got milk?’ scoreboard in place
![]() |
Thorndike, Maine – FUTURE MSAD 3 is pleased to announce that the scoreboard for the Mount View multi-purpose field has been installed last week – and just in time for the fall sports season. The ‘got milk?’ scoreboard is an important piece of FUTURE’s current athletic, fitness and recreation campaign, and certainly the most visible as it stands sentry over the track and multi-purpose field at the new Mount View facility.
Led by Clayton Larrabee of Knox, Maine, dairy farmers from Waldo County and beyond contributed over $10,000 to the FUTURE MSAD3 Athletic Campaign to take the naming opportunity of the new scoreboard – “got milk?”. Permission was obtained from MilkPEP (Milk Processing Education Program) to display the ‘got milk’ licensed logo on the scoreboard. Clayton followed thru on his quest to raise funds for the scoreboard by asking farmers to contribute $2 for every cow they milked the morning of their contribution. The scoreboard will be a very visible reminder of the depth of community support for local student-athletes and Mount View athletes.
Doug Van Horn, FUTURE MSAD3 Board member and co-chair says, “We are delighted that the scoreboard has come to fruition and are so grateful to the dairy farmers and other supporters in the area. We also want to thank RSU3 for all of their help with the scoreboard installation.”
Doug went on to say, “It looks great – please drive by and check it out. Or better yet, come to a game! FUTURE MSAD3 has been supported by numerous alumni, local businesses, and community members in our fundraising campaign. No contributions are too small – just like being on a team, it all adds up when we work together.”
FUTURE MSAD3 is a non-profit 501 c 3 organization, established in 2004, led by a volunteer, 19-member board of directors who represent the 11 towns of RSU3. Their mission is to support enhancements for the Mount View complex, as well as other schools in the district – enhancements for RSU3 schools that cannot be funded by the State or local budgets. FUTURE’s first successful campaign established the Clifford Performing Arts Center at the Mt. View complex. The goal of the current campaign is to support additional fixtures, facilities and equipment, such as dug outs, a permanent concession and restroom building, storage buildings, fencing, bleachers, walking trails and much more. For more information on the campaign, Mt. View athletic facility naming opportunities, or to contribute, please call 948-6120. Contributions may be sent to FUTURE MSAD3, PO Box 151, Unity, Maine 04988.
